FAQs

Got a question about joining She Sweats?
Here's everything you need to know before your first class.

When can I join your mum and baby classes?

You can join our mum and baby fitness classes as soon as your GP or physio has confirmed you're ready to exercise at your postnatal check-up. This is typically 6-8 weeks postpartum after a vaginal birth, or 8-12 weeks after a C-section delivery. Once you have the all-clear, you're welcome to book onto a class.

How fit do I need to be to start?

Our mum and baby fitness classes are designed for all fitness levels, from complete beginners to those returning to regular exercise. Every exercise includes progressions and easier options, so you can work at a pace that's right for you and your body.

Can I come if I've had a C-section?

Our classes are suitable for mums who've had a C-section, as well as those who've had a vaginal birth. As a postpartum specialist instructor, I programme exercises with C-section recovery in mind, so you can join safely once your GP has given you the go-ahead.

What if I've never really exercised before, even pre-pregnancy?

Our classes are welcoming to all abilities, including mums who've never exercised regularly before, whether pre or post pregnancy. There's no pressure and no judgement, just a supportive space to move at your own pace.

What if I have diastasis recti (abdominal separation)?

All of our exercises are suitable for mums with diastasis recti (abdominal separation). As a postpartum specialist instructor, I programme classes to specifically support the healing of ab separation, rather than exercises that could make it worse.

Is it safe for my pelvic floor?

Pelvic floor safety is built into every class. High-impact movements like jumping always come with a low-impact alternative, so you can protect your pelvic floor while still getting a great workout.

Do you modify exercises for individual injuries or conditions?

Just let me know about any injuries or conditions at the start of class, and I'll modify exercises to suit you, so you can take part safely and confidently.

What actually happens in a class?

Each class runs for an hour. We start with light stretching and a warm up, then I run through the plan for the session before moving into the main workout, which lasts around 25 minutes. We finish with a cool down and stretch, followed by nursery rhymes and parachute play with the babies, a lovely way to end the class together.

What should I wear/bring?

Just bring yourself, your baby, and a bottle of water. Wear comfortable clothing suitable for exercise.

What if my baby cries, needs feeding, or needs changing mid-class?

You're welcome to pause at any point to feed, change, or settle your baby, this is completely normal and happens in every class. Plenty of mums do exactly this, and the rest of the group will completely understand.

Is it OK if my baby just sleeps through the whole thing?

Whatever works best for you and your baby on the day is absolutely fine, whether they sleep through the entire class or need your attention throughout.
